Putting keys in Wallets/Purse – Again it may seem like a good idea to put a key in your wallet or purse so that you don’t lose it. However, losing a wallet or purse is just as common as losing a key and if you do lose a wallet or purse then that will also usually contain ID with your address on such as a driving licence. If a burglar found or even stole this, then not only do they know where you live but they also have a key to just let themselves in.

On Top Of The Door Frame – Most of us may not consider the top of a door frame as being an obvious place to find a key however, burglars are well clued up to this. Not only is leaving a key on the door frame visible but it is also quick and easy for a burglar to retrieve and let themselves in unseen.
In Flowerpots or bushes – This will be one of the first places a potential burglar will check for a hidden door key as over the years this has been a popular spot for homeowners to leave spares!

Under The Doormat – This is the first place a burglar would look for a hidden key to a property. This hiding place has been used for many years, and unfortunately, will probably be used for many years to come. By leaving a key under an easily accessible mat right outside the front door you are practically inviting burglars in and providing them with a key!

It is never advised to leave spare door keys anywhere around your property, instead, it is best to leave it with a trusted neighbour or drop it off with the person that needs access while you are away.
